Difference Between the Emergency Room and Walk-In Care
Emergency Room (ER):
- For life-threatening or severe medical emergencies such as major injuries, chest pain, difficulty breathing, or unconsciousness
- Possible longer wait times due to prioritizing critical cases
- Higher costs for emergency services
Walk-In Care:
- For minor health concerns like sprains, minor cuts, fever, cold, and flu
- No appointment is needed, walk in and get prompt medical attention
- Shorter wait times as non-life-threatening cases are prioritized
- Lower costs compared to the emergency room
